Knightrunner Outdoors is a locally owned outdoor, hunting, and gunsmithing store proudly serving Washington, Iowa, and the surrounding communities. Built on a passion for the outdoors, responsible firearm ownership, and exceptional customer service, we’re dedicated to providing quality products, trusted expertise, and a welcoming experience for hunters, sport shooters, collectors, farmers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

FOUNDED ON SERVICE & SAFETY

Our story began with a dream to build something that reflected our values and love for the outdoors. After moving to Washington, Iowa nearly three years ago, our owner was ready for a new chapter.

Following four years of service in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and continued service in the National Guard, he spent years teaching weapons qualifications and educating pre-enlistment high school students about firearms and safety. Those experiences, combined with a lifelong passion for hunting and firearms, inspired him to create a business where he could share his knowledge with others.

A TRUE FAMILY ENDEAVOR

What started as a conversation with family quickly became a reality. Encouraged by his wife, Mara, he spent over a year and a half planning, attending the SHOT Show, building industry relationships, and carefully bringing his vision to life.

The name “Knightrunner” carries special meaning. Growing up, the owner’s father handcrafted golf clubs in the family garage under the name Knightrunners Grip. When the name became available, it was passed down to continue a family legacy. Today, the Knightrunner Outdoors logo was designed by Mara, a graphic designer and graduate of High Point University, making the business a family endeavor from the very beginning.
